We seek to invest in undervalued U.S. small cap companies with growing and sustainable prospects. We invest in companies from $50 million up to $5 billion in market cap.

Polaris was founded on the principal of global investing, looking at both U.S. and non-U.S. stocks to round out portfolios. For the past 30 years, we have been committed to this globally-diversified, multi-cap strategy. From our global all-cap research, we have built and managed global and international multi-cap funds, as well as an international small-cap fund. Managing a U.S. small cap fund was a natural progression of the strategy and the research process already installed at our firm.

We have always invested in U.S. small caps, and have more than a dozen in our global portfolio. In recent years, our research has pinpointed many more small cap opportunities, but we had limited exposure due to the risk profile in our global portfolios. U.S. SMALL CAP PORTFOLIO CONSTRUCTION

The Pear Tree Polaris Small Cap Fund seeks to invest in undervalued U.S. small-cap companies with growing and sustainable prospects. The U.S. small cap mandate has some added flexibility to invest in companies from $50 million up to $5 billion in market cap. The Fund generally invests in stocks found within the Russell 2000 Index. The Fund utilizes a proprietary quantitative model for data collection and verification, sector/industry study, and company catalyst identification. The Fund’s rigorous stock selection process also includes bottom-up fundamental analysis as well as a top down perspective to ensure diversified industry exposure. Risk controls are also employed to help prevent the Fund from concentrating investments in any particular industry or sector. As a result, the 50+/- stock portfolio is well diversified with investments in at least 15 different industry groups.
